Das Zentrum für Dialog und Gebet in Oswiecim/Auschwitz / The Center for Dialogue and Prayer in Oswiecim/Auschwitz A Film by Christof Wolf / Ein Film von Christof Wolf Das Zentrum für Dialog und Gebet in Oswiecim entstand im Jahr 1992; bis 2006 wurde das Zentrum mit der Hilfe von Renovabis umfassend saniert und ausgebaut.
„Hier werden Begegnungen möglich mit ehemaligen Häftlingen, jüdischen und christlichen, Begegnungen mit Jugendlichen aus Polen, Deutschland und anderen Ländern, mit Professoren, Priestern und Rabbinern, Begegnungen, die dann gelingen, wenn die Beteiligten sich öffnen und bereit sind, zu hören.“

„Begegnungen ,am Rande von Auschwitz‘ sind fast immer Begegnungen von Verletzten. Es ist nicht leicht, sich zu öffnen. Brücken des Vertrauens zu bauen ist eine unserer wichtigsten Aufgaben. Gebet, die Geduld der Liebe, hilft uns dabei. Mein Traum ist eine Zivilisation der Liebe.“
Pfarrer Dr. Manfred Deselaers, Leiter der Programmabteilung The Center for Dialogue and Prayer was founded in 1992, in partnership with Renovabis the center was rebuild and expanded.
“This place forces people to step back and to reflect on the history of individuals and for humankind. And for that reason by our educational work we create possibilities that make it easier to recognize the reality of the place's history. In this regard we work on three levels: especially for youth, mostly in three-day excursions. We also organize seminars and conferences for professors and students, especially for those who are interested not only in dialogue but also in history and international law. This house also helps to find religious answers to the events which history brings with it. This is the third area of educational work: Retreats, instructions in prayers of reconciliation, which include meditations on the Way of the Cross that leads through Birkenau.”
Father Jan Nowak, Director of the Center “It is my dream to create a place that is as real today as Auschwitz was real before, a place in which another world can be experienced, new relationships, where we create an experience of a civilization of love. That will only work by building new bridges of trust, face to face.”
